November COEN Community of Practice Meeting
Wednesday, November 29, 5:30-7:30 PM
Panera Bread, 640 S Colorado Blvd, Glendale
Topic: Evaluation Capacity Building
Facilitator: Elena Harman, Vantage Evaluation
Please take a break from the turkey leftovers and join us on Wednesday, November 29 for our 11th COEN Community of Practice meeting. These meetings are informal, with a specific topic, facilitator, and practice-building purpose to guide discussion. They are intended to let you share with and learn from your colleagues and grow in the profession.
From 5:30 to 6:00 we will gather, introduce ourselves, and get coffee or dinner at the counter if you wish.
At 6:00 we'll start our informal program: Evaluation Capacity Building.
How can we, as evaluators, help increase the evaluation capacity of the organizations we serve and interact with?
What needs to happen for Colorado to become a national leader in evaluation practice?
Most evaluators come to evaluation through the methods: we have an interest in applying research methods to social programs to help improve the social sector. And yet we often find that organizations lack the capacity to support or use the evaluations we do, and find ourselves in the role of accidental teachers. How can we be more intentional about this role and make sure that our efforts have the desired effect?
Regardless of your experience with evaluation capacity building, join us for a conversation about whether capacity building should be a part of evaluation practice, and if so, what our role in that space might be.
Please bring your questions and insights to share from your own evaluation experience. Also bring a colleague!
Our annual meeting will be December 5 at McREL International (4601 DTC Blvd, Garden Level).
Have a suggestion for a location in another area of the metro for a future meeting? Would you like to facilitate a future discussion? Send the suggestions to us at Colo.Eval.Network@gmail.com.
