COEN's November Community of Practice Meeting

Wednesday, November 28th, 5:30-7:30 PM

LocationPanera (640 S Colorado Blvd, Glendale, CO 80246, USA)

Topic:  Observation or Participant Observation...that is the question!

Facilitator: Aisha Rios (Vantage Evaluation)

These meetings are informal, with a specific topic, facilitator, and practice-building purpose to guide discussion. They are intended to let you share with and learn from your colleagues and grow in the profession.

From 5:30 to 6:00 we will gather and introduce ourselves.

At 6:00 we'll start our program: Observation or Participant Observation...that is the question!

How often do you use observations in your evaluation practice? When might participant observation be a helpful data collection method to add to your toolbox? Aisha Rios, PhD, will use her background in anthropology and evaluation to facilitate a discussion about how to incorporate different types of observations into your evaluations. We will focus on when using observations are appropriate, different strategies for observations and notetaking, and tips for conducting and analyzing observations. Come ready to discuss your experience using observations and with questions to advance your practice!

This session is appropriate for everyone! Please bring your questions and insights to share from your own evaluation experience. Also bring a colleague!

We'll be mixing it up in terms of venues and types of Community of Practice events, so keep an eye on our announcements. Would you like to facilitate a future meeting? Reach out to us with your idea at Colo.Eval.Network@gmail.com and let's chat.
