As an evaluator, are you thinking about going out on your own?   For many, this is an exciting but intimidating prospect. This workshop will reveal the simple, but essential design and start-up skills needed for success. The session will provide an overview of topics including: “Do I have what it takes?”, and “What’s my Niche?,” and "How Do I Market?". The session also will include valuable samples, worksheets, and insider tips. You will identify your clients, your services, and your competitive edge. Are you ready to consult?

This lively interactive virtual workshop will put you on the path to tackle the tasks ahead.

About the Presenter: Matt Feldmann owns and operates Goshen Education Consulting, a small firm committed to serving educational clients in Southwestern Illinois. Matt has been a consultant since 1998 and started his independent consulting practice in 2009. He has presented on independent consulting TIG (Topical Interest Group) topics more than 20 times at the AEA conferences, submitted numerous TIG newsletter articles, contributed to/coordinated the TIG AEA365 submissions, and served AEA on multiple committees. He was one of the editors for the December 2019 New Directions for Evaluation special issue on independent consulting. Matt is the President and one of the founding members of the Evaluation Association of St. Louis. Since 1994, Matt has 50 peer-reviewed conference presentations that have ranged from formal papers, research presentations, posters, and pre-conference presentations.

  • 4.0 Aspects of the planning and management domain, which includes networking and developing proposals.
  • 5.1 Fosters positive relationships for professional practice and evaluation use.
