Issues, like poverty and environmental degradation, continue to persist today despite efforts to solve them. And efforts often look outside of the problem for solutions, like providing food aid to a country experiencing a drought. What if instead of viewing causes (and thus, solutions) of problems as outside of the system, we viewed causes of the problem as within the system? And what does that system look like?

In this interactive session, Linda Xiong of Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute will:

  • introduce systems thinking (including habits of a systems thinker),
  • facilitate systems thinking exercises, and
  • discuss how systems thinking shows up in evaluation work (including complexity-aware monitoring; interrelationships, perspectives, boundaries, and dynamics).

Resources related to systems thinking will be provided. This session is open to all levels of experience.

*Registration for this event is free for Colorado Evaluation Network members, $5 for members of other American Evaluation Association affiliates, and $10 for non-members. To become a COEN member, click here.
