Culturally Sensitive Evaluation in Volatile Times

This session will address what culturally sensitive evaluation could look like in volatile times and contexts (socially, politically, and evolving technology) and invite participants to share their experiences and aspirations in their work while centering social justice as a driving force for their work. Guiding questions include: What does it mean to be culturally sensitive as an evaluator in general and in different contexts? What characteristics shape culturally sensitive practices for evaluators? And what absolute truths should define culturally sensitive work in volatile times and contexts?

Presenter:

Lilian Chimuma, PhD., is a mixed methods evaluator, researcher, and educator with a passion for applying culturally sensitive and socially just practice in interdisciplinary contexts. Her research and evaluation interests explore the use and application of critical methodologies including culturally sensitive, indigenous, and equitable research and evaluation methods. Her evaluation work and experience over the years encompass public health, education, and academic contexts.
